Ready or not, here goes something

It’s here: the finished, revised, pitch-ready screenplay for my first feature film.

Next week, I have three pitch meetings scheduled with different producers at the international NRB convention in Dallas. This is where media professionals from all over the world gather to share ideas, network, and learn how to develop their skills for a common cause.

Excited? Yes.

Ready? I think so.

Here’s why:

1. The screenplay is not a first draft anymore (whoo-hoo!). It’s actually Draft 3 now.
2. It has been reviewed and picked apart by a combination of 8 film professionals, artists, and thoughtful viewers who work outside the industry.
3. It passes the Blake Snyder “beat board” requirements.
4. I’ve honed and practiced the pitch on people.
5. It’s time to go!

Is this sufficient reason to say it’s ready? Heck, I don’t know. But Dallas is the first light of day this story will get in the professional world.

Maybe it will sell there, maybe it won’t. If it does, sweet. It’ll be time to dig into contracts and negotiations then.

If it doesn’t, I know where it’s going next. And if it doesn’t sell there, I know where it’s going after that. And then after that.

We can’t open our own doors, that’s God’s choice. But we can keep showing up until He points us a different direction or opens a door we didn’t even expect.

And in either case, there’s a new feature film a-brewing. So thank you to everyone who has helped bring this project to this point, and who continues to support my journey.

I truly can’t wait to share with you whatever comes next!
